Project Update: Enhancing AI Accountability in Law Enforcement

Within AIPAS our goal is to develop practical mechanisms and a dedicated software tool that supports Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in implementing AI responsibly and accountably. The AIPAS tool allows the AI Accountability assessment of all AI capabilities in policing, with specific instances for our focus areas in AIPAS: CT, SCO, CSE and Forensics.

We’re pleased to share a progress update on the latest AIPAS tool developments:

  • Knowledge Base: This feature provides in-depth answers about the AP4AI accountability framework, including the EU AI Act, and comprehensive guidance on how to utilise the tool effectively. It thus empowers users with key information at their fingertips.
  • Check Assistant: Explaining AI Accountability can be challenging. The Check Assistant ensures your responses are consistent and thoroughly cover the criteria set in each question, promoting clarity and conformity.
  • AIPAS Editor: We introduce the ability to extend the tool’s functionality without technical intervention. This means users can now add their own criteria and assessment questions, customising the tool to meet specific organisational needs or legal requirements.
